Privacy policy
Last updated 5 August 2026
This policy explains what Perimae does with your personal data. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@perimae.com and ask.
Who we are
Perimae publishes evidence-led writing about perimenopause and menopause at perimae.com. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Perimae is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@perimae.com.
What we collect
If you join the email list: your email address, the date and time you consented, the wording you consented to, and the page you signed up from. That is the whole of it. We do not ask for your name, your age, your symptoms, or anything about your health, and you should not send us that information.
If you email us: whatever you choose to put in the email, kept for as long as needed to deal with it.
When you visit the site: our hosting provider processes standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to serve the pages and keep the service secure. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run tracking pixels, and we do not build a profile of you.
Why we collect it, and the lawful basis
The email list runs on consent — Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR, and regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. You give that consent by entering your address and ticking the box that reads:
I agree to receive the Perimae nutrition planner and occasional emails about perimenopause and menopause. I can unsubscribe at any time.
We use double opt-in. After signing up you are sent a confirmation email, and nothing is added to the list until you click the link in it. If you never click, the pending record is discarded. It makes the list grow more slowly and it is the right way round.
We use your address to send you the nutrition planner and occasional emails about perimenopause and menopause. We do not sell your data, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers. Ever.
Serving the website itself relies on our legitimate interests — Article 6(1)(f) — in operating a secure and functioning site.
Who processes it
Two providers, both acting on our instructions:
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — stores the email list and sends the emails. Kit is based in the United States. Transfers outside the UK are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Vercel — hosts the website and serves the pages. Vercel is based in the United States, with the same transfer safeguards.
We will also disclose personal data where we are legally required to. Nowhere else.
Cookies
Perimae sets no non-essential cookies. There is no advertising network here, no analytics tag following you between sites, and consequently no cookie banner — because there is nothing to ask you to consent to. If that ever changes, this page changes first and you will be asked before anything is set.
How long we keep it
- Subscribers: until you unsubscribe, or until you have not opened an email in 24 months, at which point the record is removed.
- Unconfirmed sign-ups: discarded after 30 days if the confirmation link is never clicked.
- Emails to us: kept while the matter is live, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- have your data ported to another provider;
- withdraw consent at any time — which is as simple as clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of any email we send.
To exercise any of these, email hello@perimae.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how we use your data will be told to you by email before they take effect.
